Prez Letter 3rd Quarter 2009

The Future:

The future; I'll get to that, but first let me say thanks. Thanks for not only re-electing me to this position, but for electing and re-electing a group of folks who will work hard and work together to make this club the successful and respected organization that it is. After years of service Bob Morrill and Gary Cooper stepped back from leadership positions and deserve many thanks both from myself and the membership. This doesn't mean they won't be around to help when needed, it just means it was time for someone else to carry the load.

Speaking of which the folks elected to help carry the load are mainly the same faces with different titles. Grover moves up from board member duties. He had been around motorcycles a long time and is a true classic himself. I look forward to working with him. Plus we got a two-fer, as his wife, Sandra has taken over the t-shirt job. She is the go to gal for t-shirts, hoodies, caps and all of our North West Classic gear. Many thanks to her for all she does.

Our new secretary is Jo Ann Cooper. She has experience with other clubs and will bring organization to the job. The treasurer position is still held by Ramona Herner. She is doing a great job and I look forward to her continuing diligence in the position.

The new board is as follows: Les Burton, Curtis Krouse, Panhead Ed Rogers, Indian Larry Eickholdt and Danny Bell.

What can I say? One good group of folks. Curtis doubles as the web master and newsletter editor. Big jobs all and he does them well. Remember to tell them what a good job they do.

Larry has held many positions with this club over the years and is on of the only 20 year plus members still active. We've worked well together before and I look forward to the same in the year to come.

Les and Panhead Ed will continue to do the good work they have been doing. These two are invaluable to me as I bounce ideas off them to keep me centered and on track. Thanks guys!!

The other new face on the board hails of late from the Colville area. He is an avid hunter as well as a nationally known builder of class motorcycles. He and his wife come to us from Louisiana via southern California. Fine folks who know bikes and gumbo, I look forward to working with Danny and the entire crew.

The future, I'm finally getting around to it. I'm often asked about my vision for the club. In my vision I see a club that is respected in the community. A club doing more, both on bikes and off. I see a piece of land with a club house, a flat track and maybe a hill climb and museum. I know we aren't there quite yet, although with the support of the membership and hard work of the officers and board members almost anything can happen. Again, to close, I want to thank my wife Clara for her patience with me when I spend too much time on club business. I want to again , Thank Bob Morrill and Gary Cooper for their service. I would like to thank Grover, Jo Ann, Ramona and the Board for their future toil and support.

The future is ours to make. I am confident we will continue to put the class in Classic in the future as we have in the past.

Your Prez, Bootmaker.

Speaking of work, the news letter needs help. Both with input and in the nuts and bolts part too. Send input, stories, pictures, tech tips, and suggestions to the Club mail box at P.O.Box 4091 Spokane, Wa. 99220. If you can help with the nuts and bolts, holler at me, I'd love to hear from you.
